Career

The doctor started his career as an assistant professor at the Medical University of South California, Charleston, where he expertise himself in yeast molecular genetics.
After that, he returned back to India and founded his pharmacy company the Bharat Biotech in 1996 in Hyderabad India. His company developed vaccines for many deadly diseases such as Rotavirus, Typhoid Conjugate, Chikungunya and Zika at an affordable rate.
Currently, he is working on the new vaccine for the coronavirus for which they have started the human trial and claimed that the vaccine will be launched soon within two-three months.

The researcher bagged many prestigious awards for his contribution to the medical field. He received the awards like “Biospectrum Award”, “National Research Service Award”, “Rotary International Prize”, and “Dr. K.C. Chatterjee Memorial Award” for his various contributions to the welfare of society.
He was also awarded the gold medal for achieving the highest CGPA in the University of American Spring.
He was also been awarded for the “Best R&D efforts” in the industry by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. He was also honored by the Indian government by the Best Technology and Innovation Award.

In many interviews, the doctor revealed that he always wanted to work in the direction of public welfare and wanted to develop affordable medicines for the treatment of deadly diseases.
His organization has developed so many successful vaccines at affordable prices and also aimed for many more developments soon.
He also stated that at the initial level it was not easy for him to start his own company due to some financial problems.
Later on, he took a loan of 2 crore rupees from IDBI and then started his pharmacy company Bharat Biotech in 1996.
He started the Bharat Biotech’s Hepatitis vaccine plant followed by the ICCI knowledge park. He also made people realize the importance of Biotechnology parks in India and also sent a proposal to the government regarding this innovation.
Before starting his own company he also worked as a fellow at the Indian Council Agricultural Research. He also worked as a Bayer in a pharmacy company. He was also involved in the shaping of India’s science education with the collaboration with many Research institutes like “Research Council of CSIR National Laboratories”, “Union Cabinet Scientific Advisory Committee”, “CCMB Governing Council”, and “Global Health Institute” in the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
