George Perry Floyd Jr., popularly known as George Floyd was an African-American. He was killed by a police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after an arrest for allegedly using a counterfeit $20 note. As he died, he cried out, “I can’t breathe,” which became a rallying cry for future demonstrations.
Following his assassination, demonstrations against police brutality, particularly against black people, rapidly swept throughout the United States and across the world. Derek Chauvin, one of four responding cops, knelt for 9 minutes and 29 seconds on Floyd’s neck and back.

Born on 14 October 1973, George Floyd’s age was 46 years at the time of his death. He was born and brought up in a middle-class Christian family from Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States. He was an African-American by nationality and was belonged to the Christianity religion.
He completed his early education at Ryan Middle School, and later at Yates High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States.
After that, he also enrolled himself at the South Florida State College, Eastern Kentucky University, and also at Texas A&M University – Kingsville in the United States from where he completed his graduation. From the very beginning of his childhood, he was more into sports and used to play basketball and football a lot.
