Jaleel Ahmad White, popularly known as Jaleel White is an American who is a popular writer, producer, and actor by profession. On the comedy Family Matters, he portrayed Steve Urkel in 1989. After a one-time guest appearance on the program, the character became a permanent cast member.
From 1989 to 1997, the show ran on ABC as part of the TGIF lineup on Friday evenings, and from 1997 to 1998 on CBS as part of the network’s ill-fated CBS Block Party effort on Friday nights. Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? then brought back White’s role as Urkel for the first time in more than two decades.
