Nitesh Rane is an Indian politician and member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. He is known for being the younger son of the former chief minister and senior political leader of Maharashtra, Narayan Rane.
Recently, he made the headlines when he raised several questions regarding Disha Salian’s mysterious suicide case during an interview with Republic TV. He stated that Disha’s boyfriend Rohan Rai knows all the truth about what happened with Disha Salian on 8 September 2020.

Career
Nitesh Rane started his career after his return from the United Kingdom to India. He joined his father when his father left Shiv Sena and joined Congress in 2005.
He started a non-governmental organization “Swabhiman Sanghatana” which mainly focuses on social issues like youth unemployment, health services, and basic amenities throughout Maharashtra and especially in Mumbai. His organization also holds the world record for organizing the largest job fair in which they provide 25,000 jobs to unemployed youth.
He also served as the general secretary of Youth Congress in Mumbai, but later on, he resigned from his post due to some internal conflicts in the congress party. In 2012, he started an initiative to help Marathi Cinema and theatre named “Maharashtra Kalanidhi”. In the same year, he also launched an initiative “Sindhudurg Tour Guide” which focuses on providing employment opportunities to the youth in the tourism industry.
In 2014 he also launched an online job initiative named “Naukri Express” which provides mobile jobs to the youths throughout Maharashtra. In the same year, he contested election from Kankavli Vidhan sabha constituency over the Bharatiya Janta Party ticket and won the seat and become the member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

Controversy
Nitesh Rane was involved in a controversy in 2009 when he protested against the release of the Marathi movie “Zenda” as according to him a character in this film resembled his father. After his protest producer and director of the film have to make many changes in the movie before its release.
In 2010, an FIR was registered against Nitesh Rane by a small businessman named Chintu Shaikh. As per reports, Chintu alleged Nitesh of an attempt to murder. But later on, the case was investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation who has given clean chit to Rane.
In 2011, Rane attacked Sena-BJP by stating that they were unable to stop water mafias in Mumbai as water mafias were selling water tanks to poor people at higher rates in Mumbai. In 2012, Rane also questioned the working of the Election Commission of India as he stated that all the Vada Pav stalls should be closed which were run by Shiv Sena during elections.
In 2013, he was arrested by police for being involved in damaging a toll plaza and assaulting its workers. In the same year, he was involved in a controversy when he posted a controversial tweet against Narendra Modi and Gujarati people stating that they have to leave Mumbai and action should be taken against them.
In the year 2017 and 2019 Rane was arrested for assaulting a Government officer. Recently he made the news after he raised many questions on Disha Salian’s boyfriend Rohan Rai. He stated that Rohan Rai knows everything that happened the night before Disha’s death.
He further added that Rohan and his friends were planning Disha’s funeral and also raised questions about why he is hiding?. He also stated that if Rohan didn’t come to expose the truth then he will tell the truth to the investigation agencies.
