The following year, she was named a Globacom ambassador in 2009 and in 2011, she took a step further to audition in ‘The Maltina Dance All family competition’ where she finished as second overall best with her family.
With a dance group called “Sistahz, Anita also partook in the Malta Guinness Street Dance competition in 2011 with a girl” but they didn’t make it past the auditions.
Depression Led Anita into Making Comedy
She, however, discovered her comedy talent through depression. In 2018, Anita got depressed over her family situation. She and her husband had financial issues that led to indebtedness. Overwhelmed by her family’s financial crisis, she resorted to committing suicide but was rescued and taken to three different hospitals for her full recovery.
She said the aftermath of her suicide attempt inspired her to venture into comedy so she can use her story to heal people. In the last hospital when I woke up, I was like so I didn’t die? That meant God didn’t want me to die. Then I told God that I was going to use my story to heal people because I felt like he didn’t allow me to die because he wanted my story to touch people’s lives,” she said.
Beginning her career as a comedian, Anita adopted the name “Real Warri Pikin” to distinguish herself from the crowd of talents in the industry. She also started making videos to motivate and inspire people in a funny way.
