Born on 13 December 1974, Sambit Patra’s age is 45 years as of 2020. He was born and brought up in a well-to-do family in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India. He completed his early schooling from Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Bokaro. After that, he enrolled himself at VSS Medical College and Hospital from where he completed his MBBS degree. Then he completed his Masters of Surgery from in General Surgery from SCB Medical College, Cuttack, in 2002.
He was a meritorious student since his childhood and always wanted to work for improving health and education standards for the backward community in our society.

Sambit Patra belongs to a well-settled Hindu family in Bokaro Steel City, Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India. he follows the Hindu religion and holds an Indian nationality. His father’s name is Rabindra Nath Patra who is an ex-employee in the Bokaro Steel Plant. His mother is a homemaker. There is not much information available about his parents, sibling, and other family members. Sambit Patra’s marital status is unknown.

Career

Sambit Patra started his career as a medical officer in Hindu Rao Hospital, Delhi, India as he cleared the UPSC Combined Medical Services Examinations. In 2006, he also established an NGO titled Swaraj, which focuses on the improvement of standards in health and education for the backward community in the areas of Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
In 2011, Sambit Patra joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and resigned from his post of medical officer in Hindu Rao Hospital, Delhi. He was appointed as a National Spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2011 and since then he has been representing BJP’s views on different platforms through debates and speeches. He also contested election for BJP from Kashmere Gate, Delhi in 2012 but he lost the election.
He is also serving as the Independent Board of Directors of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited. He is also continuing his profession as a surgeon and as a social activist along with his political career with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Sambit Patra was involved in many controversies during his political career with the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2016, he was involved in an ICMR inquiry about negligence in a case of post-operative care. Later in February 2020, he tweeted a fake video of ex-INC MLA Naseem Khan chanting Pakistan Zindabad.
Recently a non-cognizable report has been filed against Sambit Patra for controversial comments made against former Indian Prime Ministers Jawahar Lal Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi in May 2020. In August 2020, Patra has been facing a nationwide condemnation for his attacks on Late INC Spokesperson Mr. Rajiv Tyagi in a news debate which were extremely personal and hurtful. After that debate, Mr. Rajiv Tyagi died because of a massive heart attack on 12 August 2020.
Along with these Sambit Patra found himself in many controversies as he is known for his aggressive speaking and controversial comments concerning many political issues.

Sambit Patra campaigned for various legislation and then the UPA government didn’t give any heed to his requests.
He is very active on social media and always posts his views and comments on any political issue in the country and faced criticism for his posts. Recently in 2019 he contested the election form the Puri Lok Sabha seat in Indian General Election but lost the election by 11,700 votes to Pinaki Misra who belongs to Biju Janata Dal.
