In 2014, he was also made the headlines when his daughter was contesting a Lok Sabha seat in the 2014 Indian general elections and was provided with armed protection officers.
After that court ordered that this measure by Uttar Pradesh Government was illegal. Recently he was in controversy when he stated that there is Gundaraj in Uttar Pradesh and anything would happen in Uttar Pradesh. On 15 August 2020, Vijay Mishra was arrested by Uttar Pradesh police while he was crossing Rajasthan and was picked up by Uttar Pradesh police at Madhya Pradesh Agar region in Malwa while he was offering prayers at Mahakal temple while on run.
