Vivek Ramaswamy is the latest Republican to announce his bid for the presidency. The ‘anti-woke C.E.O’ appeared on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show to announce his candidacy and posted a video opposing social justice activism. Ramaswamy has gradually raised his status in conservative circles due to his fervent opposition to environmental, social, and governance investing.
“We are in the middle of a national identity crisis,” Ramaswamy states in his video. “Faith, patriotism and hard work have disappeared, only to be replaced by new secular religions like Covidism, climatism, and gender ideology.”

Vivek Ramaswamy was born on 9th August 1985 to Vivek Ganapathy and Geetha. He grew up alongside his younger brother, Shanka, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Ganapathy and Geetha emigrated from Kerala, India, before Ramaswamy’s birth. After graduating from a government school in Vadakkencherry, Ganapathy enrolled in Government Victoria College and the National Institute of Technology.
He moved to the US for further studies and secured employment at General Electric as a patent attorney and engineer. Geetha attended Mysore Medical College, where she trained in geriatric psychiatry.
According to The Hindustan Times, Ramaswamy said his parents inspired him to be successful: “My parents taught me that if you’re going to stand out, then you might as well be outstanding. Achievement was my ticket to get ahead. I went on to found multi-billion-dollar companies. And I did it while getting married – raising a family and following my faith in God.
Despite spending all his life in the United States, he maintains close ties to India. He’s visited India several times; the last time he visited was after his marriage to Apoorva Tewari, an Indian-American surgeon, in 2015.
Ramaswamy reportedly stayed for two weeks, visiting temples in Kerala. He and Apoorva share two sons.

According to Ganapathy and Geetha, Ramaswamy’s presidential ambitions sprouted as a young boy. “He had been telling that he will become President since the second grade,” Geetha told News18 Malayalam. “But we took it lightly. Suddenly, it became real.”
Ramaswamy told his parents he would run for president a week before the official announcement. Ganapathy talked to the outlet about Ramaswamy’s ambitions:
“Vivek has been an ambitious boy since his childhood. Both he and his younger brother have had an interest in Indian culture. His honesty and integrity are the biggest reasons for his success as a businessman. It’s something my father taught everyone.”
