Safoora Zargar is a young activist who caught the eye of the camera and become a storm over social media when she was put behind bars by the Government for her protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and was also found pregnant during her protest.

The 27-year-old young activist was brought
into existence in 1992 in Kishtwar District, Jammu Region Kashmir, India. She
was brought up in Delhi. She did her early schooling and completed her higher
education from Delhi. After that she
enrolled herself at Jamia Milia Islamia University where she took admission to
M.Phil. course.
Safoora is the media coordinator and prime
member of the Jamia Coordination Committee (JCC) which has planned and executed
a nationwide protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
The young activist is primarily involved in
the protest, which started in Delhi and reportedly takes off from the Jamia
University. She was detained in Tihar Jail, Delhi since April this year.
Family and Friends
Safoora Zargar was born in a Kashmiri Muslim family. The identity of his parents and other family members is not known. She is also married to a Kashmir Muslim boy.
The young activist is found pregnant when
she was detained by Delhi police for her involvement in February riots that took
place over all parts of the country due to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)
implemented by the Government.
The Accusation
Safoora played a lead role in the community
that protested against the Government in Delhi and overtook the riots and
create a nuisance all over Delhi and India.
The protest was started in December 2019, later on the Police handled
the situation and on 10 April they arrested Safoora for leading these riots.
She was sectioned under the Unlawful Activities Act,2019. In this act she was
held responsible for rioting, possession of arms, attempt to murder, murder,
promoting riots between two communities based on religion, and many others,
there are a total of 18 sections for which she was held accountable.
Not only Safoora but also her supporters were arrested along with her to inflame dustup among other students of Jamia and create havoc all over the capital.
The matter becomes worse when the news of
Safoora’s pregnancy gone viral, reports suggested that she was three months
pregnant when she was confined behind bars by the Delhi Police. After this news
Police sources suggested that she did not inform anything about her pregnancy
when she was arrested by Delhi Police.
After that an unknown storm took over the social media in which objectionable statements and comments were passed against her questioning her pregnancy. It gets more worst when many politicians also commented over her pregnancy. Many memes and posts went viral raising disgusting remarks over Safoora’s marital status and to identify the DNA of the unborn child.
These types of incidents are very shameful against any women or girl, yes she was detained by the Delhi Police for her doing but still questioning any girl’s dignity is also a crime and should be punished.
